Hmm… I guess nothing interesting with this post. It just knowledge sharing about what I know. For introduction I would like to recalled about our life’s cycle. Before this myself as a students really aware that the most challenging thing at that moment is struggling for homework. Well, as we passed study era of course we will face another challenging world; its about working, where most of your time used to work for the sake of living survival.

For me, working is almost same to what you have done in your school plus some other issue that I think most people have different thought about it. It’s about money management. The biggest problem of all. Reality is, most people love the raise, but a few of them knew about how to manage the cash they got. Some don’t even care about it end up they will trapped in debt if they use credit card.

Today I got a call from some company offered me some kind of card that promises to have a lot privilege. But I turned them down telling that I’m not interested for the time being. And this evening I met my friends and we talked about money management. Its good to hear that she has her own way of saving the money. We share some idea where mostly I gave her my advice according they way I do.

As new in working world, I cannot say that I’m perfect financially. There is lot more to learn and Alhamdulillah, I think I’m on right track. What I did is, I prepared a text or note which is for my reference monthly. So I will knew where the money should go and allocation for each category. So lets take a look at my note:

ptptn    $$$
parents    $$$
prepaid    $$
housing    $$$
saving    $$$
asb    $$$
th    $$$
———–
$$$ <- total expenses
netpay    $$$$
———–
$$$$ <- expenses – netpay
monthly    $$$ <- spending for foods ^^
———–
backup    $$$ <- your backup ‘fulus’

hehe… firstly of course I need to replace the real value with dollar sign. Its my secret :-P . First I listed down all the monthly expenses. I believe this is common expenses for those who like me, people who just start working. PTPTN is must have debt for fresh graduate. We have to admit it. So allocate some for it. Not really much on this, since you need to focus more on saving. For saving I managed to have 3 separated savings. Saving is a must, I followed a recommendation that you must take 10% from your net pay as your saving. ASB and TH is optional but very-very highly recommended. I said, a must since its your permanent saving. When its called ‘permanent’, so make sure you understand what it is all about; you can put your money, but please don’t (ever) take it out. There is a time for us to use this savings later so keep saving monthly.

After you list down all the expenses, minus your netpay and you will have some amount left. This amount will be your money to survive for current month. In my way, this money will be divide into two: my spending for foods and another saving called backup saving. Wait.. another saving? that’s my friends question. I said to her; “I think we should not put all our money into one saving because it will end up we will use the money back”. So this is the reason another saving budget where you can use it for anything going on current month. For me the value for this kind of budget surpassed the permanent saving. Its on you to educate yourself how to save on this budget. For me, I’ll make sure backup saving has a balance so it will increase another month after new backup budget credited. I think when it were like this, the focus of money will be on backup not your another saving. You will not even think about to use your permanent saving at all.

But I believe people have their way of how to manage their own money. Like I said, its about sharing. Hope it helps :-)
